Plant 3D catalog from manufacturer data

Drag in manufacturer documents as PDF – types, nominal sizes and pressure ratings are recognized, and each valve gets the base body according to the ASEING standard: the P&ID symbol as a 3D body. All ball valves with a sphere, all butterfly valves with a disc – in the model, you recognize the valve just as in the P&ID.

Prototype – this service is new and is being extended continuously. The recognition from your documents is a proposal: nothing is guessed, anything unclear is marked. The fixed price after our review is binding.

The task

Manufacturer parts as Plant 3D families – with dimensions, limits and source.

What you want

  • You want to take over manufacturer tables directly – for all valves at once.
  • You want the limits (pressure, temperature, media) in the catalog.
  • You want to recognize every valve in the model at a glance.

Our solution

  • The catalog builder reads manufacturer PDF, Excel or CSV.
  • Confirm clear families; open ones show what is missing.
  • The ASEING base body per valve type – or we build the catalog for you.

Your advantage

Time saved
Families in minutes instead of retyping.
Competitive edge
Manufacturer parts in the project sooner.
Simpler
Confirm instead of enter.
Added value
Limits and source stay with the family.

Import and assign documents

The PDF files are read in your browser; nothing is uploaded. Result: types with base body, nominal sizes, pressure ratings, connections, materials – as an enquiry to our sales team.

Importing is free – with a customer account. Applying for an account takes one minute – we review it and usually activate it within one business day. Create an account now or log in.

One base body per type – the P&ID symbol in 3D

Manufacturers draw every valve differently; in the catalog, this often turns into an arbitrary body – the same ball valve looks different in every piping spec. The ASEING standard does it the other way round: the shape comes from the P&ID symbol, the dimensions from the manufacturer's documents. Triangles become cones from the connections to the center, the circle becomes a sphere, the dot a small sphere, the line the butterfly disc. This makes the P&ID, 3D model and isometric consistent: same valve, same shape, same ISO SKEY.

Dimensions per size: face-to-face length (EN 558 basic series or manufacturer table) and connection diameter (flange OD or pipe OD). Actuators (hand lever, handwheel, gearbox, pneumatic, electric) remain separate components and are assigned per nominal size. The symbols follow the usual P&ID representation – if you use your own symbol standard, we build the bodies accordingly.

How it works

  1. Sendmanufacturer data sheets, dimension tables or Excel
  2. Reviewscope, component types, missing data – fixed price
  3. Createread dimension tables, base body by type (symbol body), actuators, end types
  4. CheckCatalog Checker: dimensions, duplicates, material, item numbers
  5. Deliverbuilder Excel, .pcat, test report, end type notes

What you get

Excel for the Catalog Builder

Format ExcelFormatVersion 2.0 – with a decimal point for the Catalog Builder or a decimal comma for the Catalog Editor. Can also be used as a data source for other systems.

Catalog (.pcat)

Ready to use in Plant 3D, built for your Plant 3D version – with descriptions, standard, material, weight and item numbers. Valves with ASEING symbol bodies and actuator assignment.

Test report

Catalog Checker result: D dimension against pipe outside diameter, DN against OD, duplicate sizes, missing values, unique item codes.

Later changes

We add new nominal sizes or variants from the manufacturer to the existing Excel file – without rebuilding.

What we need

  • Dimension tables with nominal size or outside diameter and the dimensions that describe the component (e.g. face-to-face length, center-to-end dimension, flange dimensions).
  • Text PDF or Excel – scanned data sheets (image PDF) on request.
  • Materials, pressure ratings and connection types (weld end, flange, thread, press, clamp …).
  • Which Plant 3D version and – if applicable – which piping spec the parts should go into.

We only use dimensions from your documents and from our ASEING catalogs. If dimensions from a standard are needed that is not enclosed, please send the standard along – we mark estimated values as guide values.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a catalog cost?

Fixed price after reviewing the documents – depending on the number of component types and sizes and on how complete the manufacturer data is.

How long does it take?

Usually a few working days after the quote is approved; for large series, we agree on a date.

Can I maintain the catalog myself?

Yes. You get the Excel file – make changes in the Catalog Builder, check with the Catalog Checker.

Why doesn't the ball valve look like the manufacturer's photo?

Intent: in the plant model, what matters is that everyone immediately recognizes which valve is where – just like in the P&ID. The envelope dimensions (face-to-face length, connection) match the manufacturer's data, so clash detection and isometrics remain meaningful. On request, we build bodies closer to the manufacturer's design.

Are there ready-made catalogs from this manufacturer already?

Possibly: the ASEING piping catalogs already contain catalogs from many manufacturers and standard series.
